This is a Ranma/SM crossover that came out interestingly. Any C&C is welcome, even nitpicking. It is supposed to be at least a bit comical, as well. Oh, I don't own the characters (except Xalen, and I only half own her anyway). No one would be silly enough to sue me, right? Beky Sarver "Alterations and Revisions" Chapter 1 D Point. North Pole. Arctic Circle. To an onlooker, the incident occuring would have seemed out of place in the most deserted place on earth. At least it HAD been the most deserted place on earth, till the portal had been built. Queen Beryl looked into her glass, concerned. She was deathly serious. She knew that these five were the greatest defenders of Earth, or Solaran for that matter. If they were defeated, no one would be able to stand in the way of the Negaforce. Her five most powerful youmas, the Doom and Gloom Girls, volunteered to fight them. Good. Beryl stared avidly into her globe. Their first illusion was one of an injured Tuxedo Kamen. Predictably, Sailor Moon ran towards it. A good strategy on the part of her youmas. Unfortunately, the Senshi were a bit smarter than their leader, and tackled her, keeping her from falling into the trap. From the illusion green vines shot out, right at Sailor Moon. Damn! Jupiter had shielded Moon with her body, and they had all escaped. The Doom and Gloom Girls appeared in front of them, their illusions pierced by Mercury's visor. They laughed scornfully. Then they hid behind illusion once more, this time one of the troublesome arcade owner. This seemed to fool Jupiter. She was distracted, and in the moment of distraction vines erupted from the ground, snaring her. More vines shot out, entangling Jupiter. Beryl's brow furrowed. She examined Sailor Moon's face. As the girl pulled off her tiara and began to throw it, she exulted. Her plan was a sucess! Sailor Moon would exhaust herself on the very first one. But Beryl had not been expecting what came next. "Thanks, but you guys have got to fight Beryl. I'll take care of this Dark Kingdom trash. Save your energy." Damn! She hadn't counted on this. Instead of at least a token rescue effort, the Sailor of Love and Justice put back her tiara. Jupiter was surrounded by all five of the D&G sisters. She was sucked in, and Beryl fed on her fear. But that beautiful fear transformed into hot anger and loyalty. From where she was battered at by the Girls, the Sailor yelled, "Jupiter Thunder Crash!" Beryl blinked in surprise and rexamined the glass. Yes, indeed. The girl had built up a huge store of electricity, conducted it through the melting snow, and destroying the Girl closest to her. Quite impressive. But suicidal in the extreme. She refocused her concentration on the living members of the invasion force. Sailor Moon tried to give up then and there, but she was prevented by her friends. Well, when they were gone there would be no one to stop her. The Doom and Gloom Girls set up another illusion, this one set up to entice Mercury. The super genius saw through the illusion. She sent the others on, choosing to confront the youma. Beryl rubbed her hands together in anticipation. Mercury was the weakest of the Sailors. The youma attacked, and Beryl expected her to make short work of her. But she had underestimated Mercury. The Sailor Senshi of Ice was able to draw power from her arctic surroundings. Her ice blast exhausted her, but destroyed her foe. The other girls surrounded her. They asked her about the others, and, predictably, she lied. Beryl was getting very tired of these overly brave enemies. To add insult to injury, the dying Senshi managed to smash her computer before they could use it. Well, at least she was dead. The fight wasn't going exactly the way Beryl had planned, but she was still winning. After all, at a one for one exchange rate, her five youmas would simply be the payment for the deaths of five Sailor Senshi. It was obvious that Sailor Moon was being deeply affected by events. She sat and began to whine. Beryl exulted. Was the girl just going to leave and let her take over the earth? But Sailor Mars brought out her sense of loyalty to her dead friends. The grief was making the lead Senshi careless. She was so careless, she didn't notice the D&G trap she was sitting on. The vines snaked up, captured the form above them, and held it in the air, but it wasn't Moon, it was Venus! Drat. While it was satisfying to see Venus dragged deep beneath the surface, it was Sailor Moon that Beryl truly wanted to kill. The others were window dressing. Still, it was a shock when Venus managed to adapt her long range Crescent Beam attack for short range use. Even if the backwash did destroy her, her attack had taken out a third D&G Girl. Now Mars was beginning to get the idea. But it didn't matter. At the rate that the youma were expending themselves, Beryl had this one in the bag. Mars lost sight of the two remaining youma, who were double teaming her, and then was caught in the snow cavern with them. She brought her index fingers together and pointed. "Take that you toad. Hot, huh? Mars Fire Ignite!" The super powered attack created a huge, fiery explosion. Beryl stared. How could she have managed to take out two of them at once? Her last words were whispered. "I'm sorry, Serena. I tried." Then she was gone. Beryl was fuming. Now she had no one left to destroy Sailor Moon. Ah, well, you know what they say. If you want something done right, do it yourself. She sent a globe of energy out to bring the Senshi to her and called in Prince Endymion. She would need him to properly manipulate the Moon Princess. * The nature of the Silver Imperial Crystal is a subject of great mystery. Many historians have made it their lives' work to discover it inner workings. In the personal journal of Moeag, Third Mage of Tan'keg, a powerful wizard of the Emerald Millenium, the crystal is described this way. "The Silver Empyrium Crystal is my greatest work. It is a computer, forged of bare molecules. It's mechanical use is the amplification of power. But it is primarily a data bank and control panel for the machinery here on [unreadable]. Its weakness lies in its tendency to attempt to fulfill commands that it lacks the resources to complete. It will instead try to reinterpret the command. But computers have never been known for their ability to make correct judgements." * Princess Serenity held the Silver Imperium Crystal tightly. She diverted her mind from the deaths of her friends, the death of her love, and all else. She was focused on one goal: protecting the earth from Beryl. As she yelled, "Cosmic Moon Power!", she felt her energy flow into the crystal. Then the crystal emitted a beam of white light, countering Beryl's black blast. Serenity put her entire self into the action, but it wasn't enough. Then she saw spirits of her friends, offering to help her. She smiled. Then she felt four hands join hers on the crescent moon wand. She was flanked by them, and their spirits lent energy. It was enough of a boost to overwhelm Beryl's blast and to destroy her. A feeling of satisfaction filled her. As she began to fall, she had a fleeting wish. * Alert: Incoming command. Command: restore to world to normality. Action: Call Forget ally........... Time out: No response by ally. Alert: Inabilitity to initiate memory wipe. Action: Reinterpret command. Revised command: Free Sailor Senshi from burden of responsibilities. Action: Memory alteration in progress. Program completed. * The Crystal's message had flown, but it had been intercepted by a passing omnipotent being. Q was puzzled. The message made little sense. "Need Forget ally." Who would want to forget their allies? He shrugged, crumpled the message, and tossed it in a nearby waste basket. * Pluto dug her staff into the earth as the ground rumbled. When the earthquake had stopped, she lept up a tree. The sight that greeted her eyes was chilling. The path that represented the timeline's travel through various possibilities now pointed in the other direction. She shuddered. This could have disastrous consequences. She would have to report this dastardly occurence to the only trio capable of solving it. * Luna was relieved. Serena had arrived back home, asleep in her bed. She seemed too exhausted to even snore. Luna smiled and curled up next to her charge, falling into a deep sleep of her own. * Serena looked at the clock. It was noon! And worse, she still felt tired. It was a really, really late gig last night. Then she remembered. She ran downstairs and seized the morning paper, turning to the entertainment section. Yes! The headline read, "Sailor Senshi Win Big Over Negaverse". They had won! Her mother walked in and smiled. "Congratulations, honey. I decided you would need your sleep after that stunning performance last night." Serena smiled. "Thanks. I'd better call the others." Her mother nodded. "Great idea! I'll cook up a celebratory breakfast. I'll make some for the others, if they want to come over." Serena hugged her mother. "Thanks, Mom! I'll call them right now!" The first one she called was Darien. "Hi, Darien!" He yawned. "Hi, Meatball Head. Boy, I'm tired." "We won! The Negaverse's last lead singer just quit! Their manager announced that it doesn't exist anymore." "Well, what they were playing could hardly be called music." Serena giggled. "Want to come over? Mom's cooking breakfast for us all." "Sure. I'll be there in about fifteen minutes. See you then." "Bye, Muffin." Serena hung up the phone, and picked it up again. "Good Morning, Rei!" Rei didn't sound sleepy, but then, the Shinto priestess rarely did. "Hi, meat ball head." "Want to come over? My mother's cooking a DELICIOUS breakfast for us. Since we won." She could sense Rei's smile. "Sure. Though, for most people, noon is a bit late for breakfast." She waited a moment, but Serena ignored the insult. "But call it a brunch, and I'll be over as soon as I can change." Serena smiled. "Cool. Bye, Rei." "Bye." Serena stuck her head into the kitchen. "So far both Darien and Rei are coming. You should probably cook enough for the whole group." Serena went back to the phone, but heard the ironic comment from the stairs. "I'm sure you could eat the extra, anyway." Serena rushed to the stairs. "Luna! You're up! Did you hear the news? The Negaverse has been trashed by the Sailor Senshi. It made front page of the newspaper." "The newspaper? How'd they find out?" Luna, still tired, asked. Serena giggled. "There were a hundred reporters there last night, silly! I guess you're tired." This was waking Luna up in a hurry. "Reporters? But how? The North Pole is hardly an easy place to get to." Serena carried her over to the kitchen and put her down. "Sure, but it was worth buying press passes to see us perform. I'll admit, its a little more high scale than we're used to, but not bad. And I liked the decor. Anyway, go ask my Mom for some milk and wake up before the others get here. Our manager shouldn't be totally wacked out at our victory celebration." Luna, totally confused, padded into the kitchen. She hopped onto the counter and looked pleadingly at Mrs. Tsukino. Finally, the woman noticed her. She went to the fridge, taking out the milk. As she began to pour it into a bowl, she said lightly, "For a talking cat, you're rather quiet today. You might have said something, dear. How many slices of french toast do you want?" Luna blinked. "Two, please." She began to lap the tasty milk. How in the world did the woman know she could talk? Serena skipped in happily. "They're all on their way." Ding-dong. Serena answered it, and came back with Ami in tow. Mrs. Tsukino smiled. "What can I make you, Ami?" Ami smiled. "Just a few pieces of french toast, please. I ate earlier. Hello, Luna. How are you today?" Luna hoped that Ami would turn out to be her usual paragon of reason. "I'm a little confused. How did last night go?" Ami smiled. "Well, our ratings are up quite high now. And the Negaverse has been dusted. Why do you ask?" Luna blinked. "So you destroyed the Negaverse? And set Darien free?" Serena grinned. "That Negasleaze couldn't keep our best tenor for long. It was like their leader, Beryl, had a spell on him or something. But he realized he was in love with me and came back." Luna was thrown by the reference to Darien's singing voice. "What does Darien being a tenor have to do with it?" Serena looked stricken. "Oh, not that we wouldn't want him if he couldn't sing. I love him, after all." "Thanks for the vote of confidence." Darien walked into the kitchen and kissed her on the forehead. Serena hugged him. "We did great last night! And now that you're back with us, we can beat anyone." As Mrs. Tsukino whisked them all out of the kitchen and into the livingroom, Luna found her head was spinning. Was she hallucinating? What was going on? So she simply curled up on the fireplace and observed the proceedings. Ami sat down and pulled out a book, an amused smile on her face. Her amused smile probably had something to do with the thumb wrestling that Darien and Serena were engaged in. The door bell rang again, and Rei walked in. She was carrying a folder. She walked up to Darien and Serena. "Would you two stop it?" Serena looked offended, but then she saw what Rei carried. "What is it, Rei?" Rei smiled a rare grin and handed it to her. "Serena, it was your song that really did it last night. I spent the whole night listening to the recording and writing it down." Serena opened the folder, revealing pages of notes. "That's the melody line and background music." Serena stood. "Rei, how did you do that? The song was straight from our hearts. And to figure out the totally spontaneous background music... this is great!" Rei sat down and swung her hair around proudly. "Well, that IS why I'm the best composer." Serena smiled. "You sure are. Thanks. I know the others will like this too." Makoto's knock was met by a flying hug from Serena. "Hi, Serena," she said, panting from the hug. Serena brandished the folder. "Look at this!" Makoto looked through it. Her eyes widened. "Rei, I didn't know you knew this much about the drums. You should get a Tony!" Mina poked her head in, Artemis in her arms. "What'd I miss?" Serena showed her the music folder. Mina gasped. "Rei, that's exactly what I played. You're amazing!" Artemis jumped up beside Luna. "Luna, can we talk outside for a minute?" She nodded, and they walked out into the hallway. He turned to her. "Luna, Mina is acting very strangely. She told me that they triumphed over the Negaverse. That's just fine. But she also went into great detail about her solo. And an audience. Do you have any idea what's going on?" Luna frowned. "I'm hearing similar comments from the others. I'm concerned. And Mrs. Tsukino know that I can talk." Artemis nodded. "So do the Ainos. Luna, something went wrong last night. The question is, what?" She shook her head. "I don't know. I think we should stay with them and gather more information. We can meet on the roof tonight." He nodded. "Agreed. Let's go mingle." They walked in just in time to get invited around the table for the brunch. Spots had been set up for them on the table, and they were both served french toast. They were surprised, but dug in with a vigor. Darien stood, holding a glass of orange juice. "I propose a toast. To victory!" "To victory!" They all agreed, Luna and Artemis simply nodding. Mrs. Tsukino held up a different newspaper. "Look at this. A journalist summarized the history of the Senshi." Ami's eyebrow rose. "It will probably be interesting to hear what they think happened." Mrs. Tsukino held up the newspaper and began to read. "In the past nine months, the musical group named the Sailor Senshi has achieved more fame nationally than any other band. Few people remember their origins." Luna and Artemis were stunned, but kept their mouths shut. Serena shrugged. "Sounds fine so far." Her mother continued to read. "Sailor Moon started the group as a solo singer. Instead of joining a record company, she toured the streets, grocery stores, and parks singing many popular songs. The tour grew into a duet act when Sailor Mercury joined her, singing countermelodies." The whole group was nodding. The article was pretty accurate so far. "The group's motto at this point became, 'In the name of the Moon and good music, we will enchant you!'. However, the group was still singing songs by other singers. This changed when the fiery Sailor Mars joined them as a soprano and as a composer. Her songs caused the group's fame to skyrocket. The group was invited to perform in bars and nightclubs, and the Sailor Mercury's talent in piano playing was revealed. At many performances, the singer calling himself Tuxedo Kamen began to appear and join them, then disappear into the night." Darien smiled as everyone looked at him. "Hey! I thought it was good for our publicity." Mrs. Tsukino wasn't finished. "One day, performing at an arcade spontaneously, a voice was heard from the crowd. Thus, the tall Sailor Jupiter joined them. Her skill on the drums was unequaled. Sailor Venus made a more flashy entrance, swinging in from the ceiling with her guitar slung across her back. It was then that the band began to record albums." Mina grinned, and Makoto wasn't much better. They gave each other high fives. "But the newest teen idols have not been without competition. The Negaverse, a hard core rock band, have attempted to cut into their populartity. But the fact that each of their lead singers (first Jedaite, then Nephryte, then Zoicite, and finally Malachite) had all been beaten in the charts was dooming to their cause. Their final attempt to increase their rating and reviews over the Senshi was to try to hire Tuxedo Kamen. But the tenor was not easily persuaded, and never sang for them. So now the Sailor Senshi have cleary overcome the Negaverse, who have completely disbanded. Will they reveal their real identities? Or will they continue to hide behind the planets? When will there mysterious managers stop pretending to be cats?" Mrs. Tsukino put down the paper. "It sounds like a pretty good synopsis. Except the cat thing. Sorry about that, guys." The cats in question blinked twice, and fainted. They'd just had too much. The friends enjoyed their brunch and split up, promising to meet later that day. Mina had to take the unconcious form of Artemis with her. * Luna, who'd woken up curled up in Serena's bed, was now sitting on the roof. It was quiet, and no human would discover them there. Of course, she wasn't sure if Artemis would awake in time to meet her, but she needed to think either way. The Sailor Senshi thought they were a musical band. How had this happened? "Hi, Luna." Luna started, then saw Artemis sitting beside her. "Luna, am I crazy?" Luna shook her head. "Not unless we're have identical delusions. What could have happened?" "That's what I want to know." That wasn't Artemis, it was a woman's voice. Both cats turned around in surprise. The speaker was a middle aged woman, with long dark hair in a braid down her back. She wore a white shirt, leather breast plate, black pants, leather vest, brown boots. A two handed sword was slung across her back. She reclined easily on the roof. "What has happened?" Artemis blinked. "How'd you get up here?" The woman grinned. "The Senshi, in transformation, have maybe fifteen percent Zalondonian genes. I'm fully Zalondonian. Roofs are not a problem. But I don't think that's the real question you want to ask." Luna nodded in agreement. "I suppose we really want to know who you are and why you're here." The woman nodded. "That's more like it. Greetings. My name is Xalen. I'm the one who's been called in to fix this mess. So, why don't you explain what has happened?" Artemis was wary. "What do you mean?" Xalen rolled her eyes. "Look, I understand that the Senshi are, well, used to be secretive, but that's mostly because no one would believe them if they claimed their titles. I know about the Senshi. In fact, I know more about their past than you do. I had a large part in bringing them here. So, please, give me the run down on recent events?" Luna looked around. "This is not a good place." Xalen nodded. "Okay. How about I meet you in the park tomorrow?" The cats agreed, and Xalen lept off the roof and into the trees. Then she was gone. Luna looked worried. "She seems familiar." Artemis nodded. "Do you think she could be Sailor Pluto?" Luna shrugged. * Ami was curious. Luna and Artemis had been behaving strangely ever since that performance at the North Pole Hotel. So, since she had the next day off from school, she followed Luna when she left Serena's house early in the morning. Luna and Artemis met each other in the shopping district, then loped off to the park. Ami had a difficult time following them, for they were moving quite fast. She secreted herself behind a bush and watched the two cats hop onto a bench. She had not long to wait before a woman with long black hair approached the bench. The woman was dressed in American clothes. But she didn't stop at the bench. She simply glanced at it and sat on another. The cats were staring at the woman. Ami could tell something was up. She jumped in surprise when she felt a tapping on her shoulder. She looked up and saw the woman standing there. She smiled sheepishly. The woman smiled back, friendly. "Hi. I noticed you were watching me intently." Ami thought about that. The woman was right. She had been staring at her. So how had she appeared behind her? Ami suddenly felt chilled. She hedged. "You wear foreign clothing." The woman looked down at her t-shirt, jeans, and sneakers. "Not terribly foreign. May I suggest you leave the espionage business?" Then she walked into the distance. When Ami looked back at the benches, the cats had disappeared. Ami searched the entire park, but didn't find them. But she knew that something very strange was going on. * Artemis had been waiting with Luna. They had almost missed it when Xalen showed up. She was wearing normal clothing, this time. But she stared into the bushes rather than looking at them. She sat down for a minute. Then she suddenly rushed over and picked them up. Artemis felt a brief feeling of nausea, and suddenly they were in a meadow. He looked around. "What happened? Where are we?" Xalen frowned. "We're in the Forest of Possibility. I had to bring you here. You were followed by Ami. Oh, hi Pluto." A woman in a dark fuku, long dark hair flowing down her back, and a large staff in her hand nodded to the three of them. "Greetings." She looked at the cats. "I am Sailor Pluto." The cats blinked as Xalen disappeared, than appeared again. Luna ventured. "What are you doing?" Xalen smiled. "Well, I had to distract Ami during the time that I was bringing you here. So I had to be in two places at once." Artemis looked puzzled. "Is that such a great idea?" Pluto smiled wryly. "Not for most people, but Xalen is the exception." Luna examined the woman more closely. She was of incredible muscled density, and moved with great grace. She was sure she'd seen the woman somewhere. Xalen sat down against a nearby tree and gestured for the others to do the same. "I need to be briefed on what's happened." Artemis chose to tell the story. "We found a portal to the Dark Kingdom north of the Artic circle. The girls went up there to save Darien and confront Beryl. They evidently suceeded, but we're not sure of the details. They came home, and the next morning they were convinced that they were all part of a musical group called the Sailor Senshi, whose main competitors were the Negaverse. They think we're their managers, and their parents know that we're sentient." Xalen nodded. "Interesting. But it doesn't sound too bad." Pluto offered, "I felt a message go out to Forget ally from the Silver Imperium Crystal. I take it it never reached you." Xalen shook her head. "No. It must have gotten it into it's pea brain that it was supposed to lock away their memories again. But without me there, it must have altered them instead. I'm sure it kept a copy of the originals. We just need to restore them, and things should get back on the right track." Luna cleared her throat. "There's a slight problem with that plan. I have absolutely no idea where the Crystal is." Xalen and Pluto's eyes widened, and Artemis gasped. Xalen nodded. "That is a complication. A very large one." Pluto stared off into the air. "There are youmas attacking some people at the park. It seems that Beryl's youmas remain, out of control." Xalen nodded and the two got up. "We'll fight them." The cats felt the nausea again, and they were back in the park. Except that there were people littering the ground, and fifteen youmas surrounding them. Xalen looked around. "You two, go hide." The two cats climbed into a tree, watching the fight. Pluto casually swing her key-like staff. "Dead Scream." The energy attack tore down many youmas. Xalen jumped into the middle of the group, sword bared and flicking left and right. Youmas crumbled into dust at its touch. The fight was difficult due to the youmas' sheer numbers, but the two women were victorious. Then the group was once more in the Forest of Possibility. Xalen frowned. "We're going to have to recruit someone to fight off the youmas while we fix this mess. It's time for Plan E to go into effect." Pluto looked just as mystified as the cats. "Plan E?" Xalen shook her head. "A very old back door." Luna and Artemis were obviously stupified by her answer. Xalen sat next to them and began to explain. "My talent is making people forget or remember things." Luna nodded. "Are you going to make the Senshi remember?" Xalen shook her head. "I can't. The memories are trapped in the Crystal. We must find it. But we can activate Plan E." She paused again. "At the very end of the Silver Millenium, Serenity knew what was going to happen. So she called Pluto from the Gate of Time. Myself and two other time travelers from the Crimson Millenium butted our noses in. We helped her set it up that Serena and her court would be able to remember their duties and abilities when the time came. It was in place, and Serenity put it into motion." Artemis nodded. "That makes sense. So what's plan E?" Xalen swallowed. "Saeblin and Faolin came with me from the past. They have the talents of veto and clouding. The three of us weren't sure that Serenity's plan would work without fail. So we set up some contingency plans." Luna and Artemis seemed shocked that anyone might doubt Serenity. Luna barely had the voice to speak. "Plan E is one of them?" Xalen nodded. "We approached some of the older royalty and asked them to be reborn with their memories accesible as well. They are called the Elders. Plan E is to wake them. They can protect the earth while we fix this problem." Pluto interrupted her. "But how do you intend to find the Silver Crystal? It could be anywhere in the Solar System." Artemis nodded. "It's all for naught without it." Xalen shrugged. "I don't see any point in looking for it." She might have said more, but she heard her name being called. The four walked a hundred yards through the woods and came upon a path. Two women stood upon it. "What happened to you two?" The first woman spoke. She was the same age as Xalen, and had long red hair that trailed down her back. She wore a gold and green outfit a bit like the Senshi's, but without the bows. Her skirt went to the knee. There was a sword at her waist. "We were in Crystal Tokyo when the change occured. So now we're stuck on the path." Her companion, a younger woman with blond hair and dressed in normal American clothes, nodded. "It's Obsidian Tokyo now. But ruled by Wiseman, not Serenity." The listeners all gasped. Xalen nodded. "We have problems indeed. But I have an idea about how to fix them. It'll be hard, but if we all work together, we can do it." The red head gestured at the road. "Are you going to get us out of here or not?" Xalen grinned. She stepped onto the path, clasped both their hands, and then seemed to teleport them off. "Introductions. The red head is Saeblin. The blonde is Faolin. The white cat is Artemis, the black one is Luna." They returned to the meadow, and began to plan. Xalen brought the other two up to speed. "So, we have a large but fixable problem." Luna looked depressed. "How is it fixable? We can't find the Crystal. We're doomed." Artemis agreed. "I don't see what we can do." Xalen shook her head. "I don't agree with you two. The three of us are going to awaken temporary replacements for the Senshi." Artemis despaired. "How will that help? We don't have the Crystal, and without it, we're finished." Xalen rolled her eyes. "You people are so short sighted." Saeblin reminded her. "Xalen, they don't know what the Crystal really is. For them, its hope incarnate. Be nice." Faolin nodded. "You are being harsh." Xalen smiled sheepishly. "I'm sorry, Luna, Artemis. I was out of line. The Crystal is a... well, its a computer. Not to mention a stupid computer." The cats seemed ready to keel over. "A computer?" Xalen nodded. "So we just have to find the computer that gave it birth. But Saeblin, Faolin, and Pluto will be taking care of that. They'll find the Emerald, while we do what we can here." Saeblin seemed concerned. "Are you three going to be able to find enough people to get past the Emerald's beauracratic tendencies?" Xalen nodded. "I'll see who I can find." With that, the two groups split up. * Luna, Artemis, and Xalen appeared in the park a few minutes after they had left. Many people were awaking from their energy draines state, bu Ami was nowhere in sight. Xalen picked up the two cats and carried them. They found themselves being carried out of the Juuban district and into the Nerima district. Xalen went into a maze of sidestreets, and finally stopped in front of a building labeled. "School of Anything Goes Martial Arts. Sensei: Soun Tendo." Xalen looked down at them. "I've only managed to find one, and she lives here. Well, here goes." Xalen knocked on the front door, and a brown haired girl answered it. She looked them over. "Hello." Xalen smiled. "Hello. I'm looking for some people. May I come in?" The girl nodded. "I am Kasumi. You may come in, but I have to ask you to leave your cats outside." Xalen nodded and placed the cats on the ground. "Now don't get into trouble you two. Don't stray far." She walked into the building. Luna and Artemis correctly interpreted that to mean she wanted them to go around back and spy. They were used to that, so they climbed a fence and took residence in a leafy tree. There was no one in the yard now, but she trusted there would be. In a few moments, when no one came out, they snuck into the house ansd observed the proceedings from a handy rafter. * Kasumi, beneath her naive exterior, had all the intelligence of her sister Nabiki. She could tell by watching this visitor walk that, while she held no weapons, she was a warrior. Kasumi hoped that she was not yet another challenger for Ranma. "May I offer you some tea?" The woman nodded. "Yes, thank you." They sat down together in the kitchen and shared some tea. The woman introduced herself. "I am Xalen Zaldon. I've come looking for some friends of mine who I've lost track of. I managed to track one down to here." Kasumi leapt to the easiest conclusion. "Ranma Saotome?" The woman's eyes lighted up. "Ranma's here? That's great! No, the person I managed to keep track of was a friend of mine named Nabiki." "And who would you be?" a flat voice asked from the kitchen doorway. Xalen stood. She looked the speaker over. The girl was of medium height, unremarkable build, and short brown hair. "You are Nabiki?" The girl nodded. "I am. Who are you? Why have you come to see me?" Xalen lightly touched Nabiki's arm with her hand. She concentrated. Kasumi looked on in wonder as Nabiki's eyes grew wide, and then her expression changed once again. She bowed deeply. "Greetings, Majesty." "Shhh!" Xalen hissed. "I've got Luna and Artemis here, and they don't know who I am. And you're just trying to needle me, anyway." Nabiki smiled. "Fine, GENERAL. So, Plan E has become needed? Or is this just a social visit?" Xalen grimaced. "Plan E, I'm afraid. But I want to explain it to all of you at once. I need to find Mousse, Tatewaki, Ukyo, Shampoo, Ranma, Akane, Ryoga, and Naru. Know where any of them are?" Nabiki looked wounded. "Of course. Ranma and Akane live here. In fact, they're in the dojo right now. Mousse and Shampoo reside at a restaurant called the Nekohanten. Ukyo runs another restaurant named Ucchan's, which sell okinomiyaki. Tatewaki was born into a rich family and lives on the Kuno estate." Kasumi was quite confused now. But there was something terribly familiar about Xalen. Xalen nodded. "What about Ryoga and Naru?" Nabiki shook her head. "I haven't met Naru again yet. You might see if she got attached to the Senshi instead, since she was of their generation. Ryoga is always lost. He could be a bit hard to find." A wall at the front of the dojo caved in. "Ranma, DIE!!!!!" Nabiki shrugged. "Or he could walk right in at a good moment." Xalen looked concerned. "Why is he threatening Ranma's life?" Nabiki grimaced. "Its a long story. You'd better wake them up before they make a mess around here." Xalen nodded and walked into the dojo. There she witnessed a most spectacular fight between a pig tailed boy nad a boy with a yellow bandanna. Well, spectacular for people of their relative ages. Probably Ranma and Ryoga, but she didn't know which was which. The girl watching them had to be Akane. She seemed frustrated at their fighting. Yellow Bandanna's kick was dodged by Pig Tail, who pulled a powerful punch into his head. YB didn't even seem dazed. Xalen shook her head and said conversationally to Nabiki. "Zalondonian genes run quite strong around her, huh?" Nabiki nodded. "Not to mention most of the Elders have been training in martial arts all their lives." Xalen got bored and began to run. She was executing a first level move of lo'dar. It involved flip and clear punch with both fists. She modified it a bit. From Kasumi's point of view, Xalen went into a tight flip, unbent in the middle, spinning, and tapped each boy on the had simultaneously, all while screaming, "Remember!" The boys blinked quickly and stopped fighting. Then Ranma said wonderingly, "Queen Xalen?" He smiled, and they clasped wrists congenially. "I'm Ranma." She smiled. "Hello, Ranma." Ryoga waited his turn, then he and Xalen exchanged a large hug. "Hi, Ryoga." He grinned. "Long time no see. The way you wander time, you should be an official Neputunian." She looked wounded. "Hey! The Traveler's wander even more than your people do!" Nabiki cleared her throat, and pointed towards Akane. Ranma and Xalen raced for her, Xalen reaching her first and awakening her. Then she stepped away. Ranma looked at Akane. Akane looked at Ranma. And they immediately went into a prolonged, deep, passionate kiss. This awakened something in Kasumi. She fainted. Thankfully, Xalen caught her, and she, Nabiki, and Ryoga walked into the livingroom to give Ranma and Akane some privacy. As Kasumi awoke, she smiled. Then she knelt on the floor. "Your Majesty?" Xalen blushed, forced her up. "Who are you?" Kasumi smiled. "You remember me as Keglani." Xalen, Nabiki, and Ryoga went into shock. Finally, Nabiki stammered out, "How were you reborn? With your memories intact?" Kasumi pulled out a red jewel hanging on a chain about her neck. "I stored my memories in here. So if I saw something that reminded me of the Silver Millenium, I would wake up." Xalen grinned. "Earth Mage with talents of the earth. We are fortunate indeed. Welcome to the party." Kasumi nodded, her naive demeanor gone. "I'm just glad I finally awoke. 7,000 years is a long time." Ranma and Akane walked in, hand in hand. "General." Akane said, with a bow of the head. Xalen nodded back to her. "Can we bring Luna and Artemis in here now?" Ranma nodded. "I'm not afraid of cats, now." Luna and Artemis obediently trotted in. They had witnessed everything that had happened, but they didn't know what was going on. Xalen conducted introductions. "Luna, Artemis, may I reintroduce some old friends? Bandanna boy is King Ryoga of Neptune. Pig Tailed Boy is King Ranma of Jupiter. The beautiful girl holding his hand is Queen Akane of Saturn. The girl next to me is Queen Nabiki of Pluto. And the person we met as Kasumi is actually Keglani reborn, the Mage of Earth." Luna and Artemis' minds reached back, using the names as touch points. Luna spoke for both of them. "Yes, we remember. You all certainly look different." She found herself scooped up in Akane's arms. "Well you two look exactly the same." Akane stroked Luna's head, and Luna purred contentedly. Ryoga noticed Artemis' jealousy and did the same for him. They all looked to Xalen. "Well, I suppose we ought to go get the others. Now where exactly is this restaurant again?" * Saeblin, Faolin, and Pluto were not having the same ease. Pluto sighed. "What exactly does the Emerald look like?" Saeblin chuckled. "It's a big, green, hollow chunk of emerald that's part of the rings of Jupiter." Pluto sounded unimpressed. "You mean its a green blob floating around a big green planet." Faolin nodded. "That's about right." Pluto smiled dangerously. "And how are we to go about finding this thing?" Saeblin shrugged. "We go into the future." Faolin looked at her strangely. "We can't bring Pluto into Obsidian Tokyo. If Wiseman hears that one of the Sailor Senshi was there, he'd increase security." Pluto was confused. This was unusual for her, and she decided that she disliked this feeling. "How is going into the future going to help?" Saeblin palled. "She's right! The Plutians won't be there, since Wiseman took over." Faolin pulled a notepad out of her pocket and checked it. "Oh, we're supposed to meet ourselves in the past, anyway. About four months back that way. I guess we'll have to grab some Crimson Millenium transport." Saeblin noticed Pluto's confusion and explained, "We need a spaceship to search the rings of Jupiter with. The only ships are in the extreme future or the extreme past. So we go rent one, bring it forward in time, use it, finish with it, and give it back." Pluto nodded, dubious, but at least she knew what was going on now. "So, why are you going to meet yourselves?" Faolin shrugged. "I don't know. For some reason my future self came back and told us to meet her four months in the past to accomplish our mission. Which means that we're going to do something important in our future. I'm sure she'll explain whatever it is we're going to do." The three started to walk up the path. After about ten minutes, they came up upon an odd sight. Four people were camped in the road. Faolin, Saeblin, Xalen, and a sleeping man with curly brown hair. Pluto looked back and forth, trying to keep straight which people were from which relative time. The future's Xalen walked up. "After this whole deal is over, we're going to rescue Nephryte as he's dying. That's why he disappears without leaving a body. He's good now that Beryl's spell is off him. He'll want to make amends. He'll help you later on with your mission. You're the first people he'll see after 'dying'. Good luck. Well, see ya." With that, the future versions of the time traveling trio disappeared. Pluto hesitated, but Faolin and Saeblin simply shrugged and sat down where their future selves had, waiting for him to wake up. * Shampoo was cooking up some ramen in the back when she heard customers come in. She stepped out to see an odd party indeed. Ranma and Akane were holding hands and staring at each other with love filled eyes. Akane's other arm was carrying a black cat. Ryoga was petting a white cat. Ranma wasn't going crazy over the presence of the cats. Kasumi was laughing, something never seen. Nabiki was speaking quietly with the last member of the party, who was a middle aged woman, obviously a warrior. Shampoo threw herself at Ranma, hurt that he'd be this way with Akane in front of her. But the warrior woman threw hersel into the air too, faster than Shampoo, and landed in front of the lovesick couple. She blocked Shampoo's kick, saying, "Remember!" Shampoo did remember. She was Queen Shampoo of Venus. She had a daugher, Mina. She had agreed to be reborn. One thousand year's worth of memories flooded her, and she backed off. "Greetings, Queen Xalen." Xalen grimaced comically. "I wish people would stop calling me that. Xalen is a fine name. Is Mousse here?" Shampoo nodded, "Of course. He's in...." Then the name hit her. "He's not... he can't be." She sat down on one of the bar stools. "He is." She paused. "Mousse?" Mousse came out, "What is it, my darling Shampoo?" He saw the visitors and misuderstood. "Does this mean you'll marry me?" Xalen seemed shocked, but touched his shoulder. Understanding bloomed, and he sat down hard. When he finally regained his voice, he whispered, "I'm sorry, Shampoo. I've been quite out of line." She hugged him. "Don't worry Mousse. Shampoo remember." She chuckled. "Adani be very proud of Mousse for apologize so easy." Xalen nodded. "I agree. She would have been very proud of you." He bowed. "Thank you, Your Majesty." Xalen grimaced even more comically. "That is getting REALLY annoying." Great Grandmother chose that particular moment to make her entrance. "What's going on here? Shampoo, why are you hugging that boy?" Shampoo stook, arms akimbo. "Because Mousse grieve for loss of wife. Mousse need hug, Shampoo give. Please leave, Great Grandmother." The old woman was quite affronted. "You would insult me so?" She caught sight of the others. "So, Son-In-Law, you have come to anger Shampoo by pretending with Akane?" Ranma didn't stammer. He didn't hedge. He simply hugged Akane closer. "I've loved Akane longer than you've been alive, old hag. Go find someone else to bother." Cologne laughed. "How old are you, boy?" Ranma looked to Xalen. She laughed. "Subjectively, he's 956 years old. Objectively, he's 7,976 years old. Why do you ask?" The woman was not so easily fooled. "Who are you and why should I believe you?" Xalens simply started to pare her fingernails. "The Dance of the Great Fire Dragon technique was originally invented to be used by a single person easily, but as the Jocketsuzou blood thinned, their ability to use their chi degraded. They had to change it to a two person attack." Cologne was struck. "How do you know that?" Xalen grinned. "I was there 7,000 years ago when the five non heir princesses of Jupiter started the Jocketsuzou tribe. Unfortunately, their just isn't enough Zalondonian blood left in you. Oh, did I mention that not only are you Ranma's descendant, you're mine too?" Shampoo backed her up. "Queen Xalen right." The cats seemed a little confused by now about just what title Xalen held, but they kept their tongues shut. Cologne laughed. "I am not so easily fooled. I shall free both Ranma and Shampoo of this curse you have laid on them. Prepare to fight!" Xalen checked her watch. "I don't have time to fight. Um, Nabiki, Luna, Artemis, and I will get the others and meet you guys back here. You can take care of this one, right?" Mousse grinned and cracked his knuckles. "You bet." Ranma and Akane smiled at each other, and Akane pulled out a large hammer. "No problem." Ryoga laughed. Kasumi brought out a large wooden spoon. Shampoo nodded. "If she silly enough to attack us, we take of it." Xalen smiled. "Cool. Um, if a youma attacks or something and you need to transform, I think those crowns in your pocket dimensions and some phrase like 'Blank King/Queen Power!' will do it. See you later." With that, she picked up Luna. Nabiki grabbed Artemis, and the four all walked out the door. * Nephrale blinked, trying to clear the fuzz out of his vision and out of his mind. His memories were very unclear. The last thing he remembered was experimenting in his laboratory in the basement of the Uranan Palace. Then he smelled an odd smell and everything went blank. Sort of. He had some vague memories of being someone named Nephryte, working for some egotistal usurping queen, fighting a bunch of teenage girls named the Sailor Scouts, and fallling in love with a young girl who had the same name and compassion as his love, Queen Uranus. But then Naru, the one in his fuzzy memories, was attacked, and even if she wasn't his wife, she was much like her. He saved her. He got killed in the process. Wait a minute! If got killed, then where was he? He started to sit up, and he saw three people watching him with concerned faces. He blinked. "Hello? Where am I?" The one with long green hair wore the same uniform that the princesses wore as practice uniforms, back before his memories went fuzzy. It was the same uniform as those teenage girls he'd been fighting in the fuzzy memories. She felt his pulse. "You're in the Forest of Possibilities, on the path of time. How do you feel, Nephryte?" He stood. "I'm not Nephryte! My... name... is... Nephrale! I am the the Consort King of Uranus and its First Mage! And you're... you're Princess Setsuna of Pluto." He looked past her. "But who are you others?" The red head put a comforting hand on his arm. "I am Queen Saeblin of Merce. My friend is Faolin. We're from the Crimson Millenium. What do you remember?" He was confused. "I was... I was experimenting in my lab. But I was drugged. Then... some usurper put a spell on me, and changed my name. I was fighting someone called the Sailor Senshi." He looked at Pluto. "But if you're... then... my God! I've been fighting Princess Serena and her friends. What have I done?" Pluto said in a level voice. "You sacrificed your life for a girl named Naru." He smiled. "She acted so much like my wife... she had the same name. I'm afraid I fell in love with her. And she redeemed me, freed me from Beryl's spell." Saeblin grinned at him. "Then I think she may indeed be your wife, reborn. My friend Xalen is probably awaking her memories now." Nephrale's heart soared. "Thank you. Is there anything I can do to make up for the evil I've done? So that I can face my beloved Naru?" Faolin nodded. "Have you heard of the Emerald?" "Yes, I studied it when I was learning the mage craft. It is the controlling crystal of the Silver Imperium Crystal. Phew, its a good thing I forgot THAT when I was working for Beryl." Saeblin helped him to his feet. "Well, we're searching for it so that we can reprogam the Silver Crystal." He seemed dubious. "That should work, but the Emerald is a beauracratic little machine. Where will you find all the political figures?" Saeblin shrugged. "Xalen's taking care of that particular set of details. But we need to find the Silver Crystal so we can restore Serena nad her friend's memories. They think that the Sailor Senshi are a band, and so was the Dark Kingdom. They think that you and the other generals were lead singers or something." At that, Nephrale laughed heartily. The others soon joined him, even the stoic Pluto. After all, it WAS pretty funny. *
