Ch.4!!!!!!!!! WEEEE!!!! C&C, but be kind. Don't C&C the poetry. I didn't write it. This is a Hotaru fic. I don't really plan on giving the other Senshi large parts or many lines. I think you know who is not mine. The Wordsmiths are mine. Well, that about sums it up. Here we go!!!!!!! Wordsmith Saturn Pt.4-Eye of the Storm *1* Imani walked to school more slowly than she normally would. Hotaru and Brian kept looking back at her as if to make sure she wouldn't run off again. Imani was scared. What would they do about Kuno? If indeed he was Thogan, then he would have memories waiting to be unlocked, wouldn't he? She thought back to last night's conversation. (flashback) Imani sat on the couch and the other Wordsmiths sat around the room. Sasami and Brian curled up on a recliner. Sasami and Mark sat on the floor. Nyale perched on the bottom of the stairs. Brian began. "First off, the wordsmiths are usually immortal. However, in other dimensions they can die as easily as mortal men. My older brother, Thogan, was killed many years ago in a fight in another dimension. He was the Wordsmith Words, when he died, Imani took over. Imani continued, "We have been without him many years. Kuno is an exact copy of our brother Thogan. His speech pattern is similar." Nyale spoke up. "I have a theory." All eyes turned to her. She carved a small figure while talking. "The battle in which Thogan was killed we fought with our allies, the Saridehm. The Saridehm, as we know, chose some time afterwards to be reborn and start new lives. He may have been swept up along with the Saridehm's rebirth. However, because he was not a Saridehm, the process malfunctioned. He did not receive the entire part that was Thogan. His soul may have a knot in it that he cannot see past." They considered. Mark slowly nodded. "That would make sense." "Can we fix the knot?" Sasami asked. Hotaru smiled, "We should try a Luna mind meld on him. That works for some." Imani looked to Brian who nodded. "I say it's a plan. Let's vote." Sasami, "Yeah," Hotaru, "Hai," Nyale, "Yes," Mark, "Yes," Brian, "Aye," Imani nodded. "I'll call Luna, tomorrow." (end flashback) She sighed and moved forward to walk with her daughter and brother. Hotaru smiled at her. "I'm sure we'll fix things. The Wordsmiths have never failed before." Brain nodded in agreement. "Hotaru would know. She remembers more than any of us." Hotaru grinned and put an arm around Brian. "You're just jealous." "Me?" Brain asked merrily. "Why would I be jealous of such a beautiful girl who is entirely devoted to me because she knows more than me?" Hotaru punched him playfully. Imani smiled. "You'd think you two were children or something." Hotaru grinned. "We're making up for lost time, mother." Imani instantly grinned when she heard that. "I suppose. In that case, I'll race you to school!" Then she ran towards the school gates with Brian and Hotaru following. At the gates, they stopped and caught their breath. Inside the gates they saw Ranma and Akane entering the school building. "Where's Kuno?" Hotaru asked. Brian looked around and spotted him sitting under a tree. "Maybe I should talk to him. Imani may be....distracting." The girls agreed and moved off to go to class as Brian headed towards Kuno. Kuno looked up to see Brian approaching. "Greetings, Savere Brian. I anticipated your arrival." Brian searched for words. "Kuno-san, I ....." "Brian,"Kuno said, cutting Brian off. "Call me Thogan." * Sasami ate her lunch with a broad grin. "So, Nyale-san, what are we going to do today?" "The same thing we do every day, Sasami-san, try to take over the school." Nyale quipped. Sasami looked confused. "We have tried to take over the school before? Though I just started yesterday;" "Yeah, the others got yesterday off." grumbled Mark with a good-natured grin. Nyale tossed a book at his head, but he ducked. "Don't complain." Mark grabbed a nearby bagel and threw it at her. Nyale caught it and threw it back. Sasami picked up an glass of water and splashed them. They both turned to look at her and the fight began in earnest. * Brian blinked. "Please repeat that." Kuno smiled. "I am Savere Thogan. You are my brother Xyron, though it would seem you have changed your name. Imani and Hotaru look similar. I would assume Nyale and Muhon do as well." "Mark and Nyale are well. They are working in the Middle School." Brian said. "For curiosity's sake, how long have you had your memories?" Kuno/Thogan considered. "I believe I have known for about a day. I would have sought you out, but I still must deal with the memories of this life. I believe I understand what Hotaru deals with now." Brian smiled. "Due to a wish a friend made, Hotaru is cured. Our friend became the Wordsmith Fusion." Thogan/Kuno raised an eyebrow. "Much has changed I see." Then he smiled and sang in a low voice. "I've been gone since years and years ago, but now I'm back to let my feelings show. I'll stay here, I won't go. We're back together in Tokyo. We were separated back then, and since we're back together we'll become friends. Yeah, you are my brother, and I am your blood. I am back again. I am here, you are my brother. We'll make up for the longest time that I have been away. We are here, helping each other. United at last, let's hope it stays that way. I am here, you are my brother. We'll make up for the longest time that I have been away. We are here, helping each other. United at last, let's hope it stays that way." Brian nodded. "It is you Thogan." He then hugged Thogan tightly. They heard a bell ring. "Gahh! We're late for class!" * Sasami looked over the scores of music on the piano. She found a piece of paper mixed in with them. On it was a poem. River running, flowing fast, The cold runs deep. Crystal waters, tumbling past, White foam leap. Silver moonlight, reflecting lie, Soft pure light. Shining moonshaft, spearing by, In quiet night. Two twin rivers, beauteous chill, They remember. Clear and bright, calming thrill, Hearts cold ember. "Twin Rivers," Sasami said softly. she turned to the others who were cleaning up the room. "Who wrote this?" Nyale walked over and looked at it. "I did, a few days ago. I believe that was the day we found Thogan." Sasami frowned. "It seems important somehow." She put it down. "Maybe we'll find out later." * At lunch Brian motioned for Imani and Hotaru to join them. Thogan smiled. "Imani, Lena, I have missed you." Hotaru sat down. "Thogan, I am Hotaru now." He looked at her and then slowly nodded. "Very well," They began to eat. Thogan looked at Imani. "I think I asked you to take on my position when I.....went away." Imani nodded. "I have been the Wordsmith Words since our separation. Your title is waiting for you should you ask." He smiled. "I, Savere Thogan and Kuno Tatewaki, take back the title of the Wordsmith Words." "And I, Savere Imani, am once again the Wordsmith Song." she said with a broadening smile. Then she began to sing in a loud joyful voice. The Wordsmiths remembered what she was speaking of and rejoiced with her. [flashback of a very young Imani leaving home to become a bard] "Momma, I've got two strong hands and they're fine as hands go I can shoulder the future, I can face the wind for the dream that I must follow it's a dream that can kill with its beauty it's a hurt that can heal with its pain but with all these miles that lie before me I may never go home again Chorus: but I'll carry the songs we learned when we were kids I'll carry the scars of generations gone by I'll pray for you always and I promise you this I'll carry one, I'll carry on [flashback of the Wordsmiths going off to start their legacy, leaving their homes] I kissed the earth on my daddy's grave, and said goodbye to my brave young companions but when they hoist that sail I know my heart will break as fine and as bright as this morning and I don't know where this road will take me but they say there's a place for a woman and I'm only afraid that my dreams may betray me and I'll never get home again Chorus (bridge) [flashback: the Wordsmiths (complete with Fusion) facing a sunset] oh, I can shoulder the future, I can brave the wind oh, we go on, we go on but we never get home again Chorus 2x" Her voice trailed off and she could see the entire room watching her. The bell rang, signalling the end of the period. People walked out silently. * "I'll carry on..." Nyale sung softly. "Nyale-san?" "Yes, Sasami?" Nyale asked, returning to her grading of the music theory test. "What are you singing?" Sasami asked. Nyale thought about it. "I'm not sure. It'll come to me later, I'm sure." Sasami nodded. "Are you almost done?" Nyale nodded. "We'll go home in a few minutes." * Thogan returned home with Imani, Hotaru, and Brian. As they walk Thogan got progressively closer to Hotaru. Then she began doing the same to him. She dodged an attempt of his to push her off the sidewalk and onto the grass. He tumbled to the side and everyone laughed. "Getting rusty?" Imani asked. Thogan chuckled, though it sounded a bit hollow. "Just out of practice." They attributed it to his recent personality turmoil and continued on. * Nyale looked up from her work. Sasami noticed her slightly worried expression. "What is it?" Nyale looked around. "I don't know. Something is wrong." She rubbed her eyes. "I'm just tired. Let's go home." * Nyale, Sasami, Brian, Imani, Hotaru, and Thogan arrived home within moments of each other. Nyale stared at Thogan and then nodded, "Welcome back." He nodded in return. "I am glad to be back." Sasami frowned as she felt a headache coming on. "I need to get a drink." Nyale smiled, "I'll go with you." As they passed through the doors, Kuno asked, "Where is Muhon, I mean Mark?" Imani shrugged. "You know Mark. He'll turn up." Thogan nodded and looked around. "I want to see him after so long a separation. I hope he returns soon." They entered the house. * That night, Nyale opened Sasami's door. She walked quietly over to the small girl's bed and shook her. Sasami opened her eyes. "Whaa?" "Shhhh," Nyale cautioned. "Something is wrong. I can feel it. I think Mark can too. Sasami sat up. "Me too," she whispered back. "There is a feeling of wrongness so bad it makes my head hurt." Nyale nodded. "I want to teach you something a friend taught me in case of trouble. None of the others know of this. I think it's better that they don't know." Sasami nodded. "Ok, what should I do?" "Come with me." Nyale said. "Get dressed." The two left the house quietly. Sasami recognized the route they were taking. "Are we going to visit Ranma?" Nyale shook her head. "No, but Tendo-san has agreed to let us use the dojo at night." Sasami looked up at Nyale. "Are you going to teach m to fight?" Nyale smiled. "In a way, I will teach you dance." The found the dojo unlocked. Nyale shut the door behind them and turned on the light. "First, you must learn to follow the Rhythm." Nyale said. She quoted, " Follow the rhythm, the rhythm your guide, While with man you do abide, Though swords may crash and bells may toll, But for you they may not knoll, For as long as you follow the rhythm's beat, With movement of hands, Movement of feet, All have rhythm and the rhythm's in all, All you need is to heed the call, In any way that you may choose, By following the rhythm you will not lose." Sasami watched as Nyale moved through complex dance moves. Then something odd happened, Nyale's hands began to glow. Nyale drew a symbol in the air an then hovered above the floor. Sasami's eyes widened as she felt the rhythm swirl around her. Then words came to mind as she watched Nyale move. She spoke softly, "Dancing fight, smooth and sure, Grace and strength, emotion stir, Flashing blades, prancing feet, Rhythm swirl, feel the beat, Movements light, striking swift, Round about, swing and shift, High and low, side to side, Undaunted, unbroke tide." Nyale looked down at her. "I have much to teach and little time. Let us begin." * The next morning, Nyale and Sasami looked tired. However, Thogan was still living in the Kuno mansion, so he didn't notice. Hotaru was too absorbed with Brian to notice and Imani had left already to go find Ryoga. * Over the next three weeks Kuno/Thogan reintegrated himself with the Wordsmiths, that is, all but the Wordsmith Life who had not yet returned. Nyale and Sasami continued their training and got to know Thogan even as the sense of wrongness grew stronger. End Pt.4
